Welcome to my web page! I feel so absolutely dominant - having complete control over an entire page on the World Wide Web. Today, one page...tomorrow, the world! Muahahahaha! Well, that was fun. Anyhoo, what I have is more of a "mission checklist." My goal for One Way is that by the time each person graduates high school and moves on, they will be ready to go forward into the world confident in their knowledge of God, their experience of His love, and rooted in a community who loves each other because He loved us first. So, without further ado, here is The List.
When a youth graduates out of our Youth Ministry here is what we want them to...
Know:
- A knowledge of the Kingdom of God
- Overarching story of the Bible
- Understand God’s Grace
- Explain the basics of the Christian Faith
- Understand the significance and importance of the church
- Explain the basics of Salvation
- How to make good choices about their sexuality
- Character traits of a Christian – the fruits of the Spirit
Experience:
- Authentic Christian Community
- The Holy Spirit
- Water Baptism
- The Father’s Unconditional Love
- The Father’s Forgiveness
- Witness God move when praying for someone
- A Healthy devotional life of studying God’s word, praying, fasting, and the spiritual disciplines
- Accountability and Mentoring Relationships
Know How to Do:
- Evangelism – friends, strangers, coworkers, etc.
- Stewardship Basics – tithing, gifts, talents, etc.
- Prayer of Thanksgiving, Repentance, Praise
- Relational Skills – know how to relate in different environments
- Pray for the sick and the lost
- Basics of spiritual disciplines
